High-speed Chase Has Connection To Mitchell County

A 37-year-old Marysville man was arrested in Nebraska following a high-speed chase.

Authorities in Nebraska are saying that Justin T. Sutterlin is a suspect in Kansas for a convenience store burglary that took place in Mitchell County early Tuesday.

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed to KDNS News that the convenience store burglarized was Lakeside Convenience west of Glen Elder.

Fairbury, Nebraska police arrested Sutterlin on suspicion of burglary and other charges after the high-speed chase.

He is being held in Jefferson County, Nebraska jail on felony warrants from Marshall County in Kansas.
Deputies in Jefferson County spotted Sutterlin in a silver Monte Carlo after being alerted by another county sheriff’s department.

Police tried to deploy tire deflation systems but were unsuccessful.

The vehicle sped east on Nebraska 8 at more than 100 mph, then turned north on Nebraska 15.

A Fairbury Police Department officer and a Nebraska State Patrol trooper put out spikes to pop the tires, and Sutterlin stopped, jumped out and ran. Officers caught and arrested him after using a Taser when he resisted arrest.

Numerous items were recovered from the vehicle that are believed to have come from the burglary at Lakeside Convenience.

Sutterlin was not armed and no weapons were found in the vehicle according to the Jefferson County, Nebraska sheriff’s office. A female passenger was detained but later released.
