Washington County Commission Meeting Minutes – April 13th

The Board of County Commission (BOCC) for Washington County met in regular session on Monday, April 13th, 2015 in the Commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Members present: Tim Mueller, 1st District Commissioner; Roger Otott, Chairman, 2nd District Commissioner; and Gary Ouellette, Vice-Chairman, 3rd District Commissioner. Denae Jueneman, County Clerk, was present to record meeting minutes.

The next regular meeting will be Monday, April 20th, 2015 at 8:30 a.m.

Chairman Otott called the meeting to order.

The Board served as the Board of County Canvassers.

The Board discussed moving to a consent agenda in future meetings and expressed the desire to have all department heads and officers report to them on a monthly basis.

Jueneman submitted bills and payroll totaling $247,547.41.

Janice Kearn, County Health Administrator, reported she interviewed three candidates for the open RN position. Kearn requested increasing the starting wage for this candidate from $17.50/hr. to $18.00/hr. based on the candidates experience. Commissioner Ouellette made a motion to increase the starting wage for this candidate to $18.00/hr. Commissioner Mueller seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. The Board asked Kearn to provide a report on how many people the Health Department serves on a monthly basis.

Don Alldredge, Janitor, reported on the findings of a Kansas Department of Labor audit performed last week.

The Board approved and signed official minutes from February 25; March 2, 5, 9, 16, 23, 30; and April 6.

Elizabeth Hiltgen, County Attorney, signed accounts payable vouchers and reported Bruce Jones, Health Facilities Group, is emailing a draft of invitation for proposals for construction manager for the County Health facility project.

Jim Finlayson, Interim Public Works Director, presented weekly work report and reported on the findings of a Kansas Department of Labor audit performed last week.

Duane Bruna, Environmental Science Director, reported on the findings of a Kansas Department of Labor audit performed last week.

Commissioner Mueller made a motion at 12:10 p.m. to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Ouellette seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
