Orchestra On The Oregon Trail Draws Over 1,500 To Alcove Spring

A crowd of well over 1,500 braved triple-digit temperatures Sunday at Alcove Spring for the inaugural Orchestra on the Oregon Trail. Hosted by the Marshall County Arts Cooperative, an army of more than 200 volunteers greeted guests, with well over two third from outside Marshall County.

Several musical acts went on stage, along with the Topeka Symphony Orchestra. The evenings highlight came toward the end of the symphony performance as a dozen mounted riders bearing United States flags topped the crest of the bluff overlooking the main stage below. The crowd stood, cheering and waving with approval.
