Construction To Close U.S. Highway 36 Thursday & Friday

The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced a complete closure of U.S. Highway 36 over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks just east of Home City.

The highway will be fully closed to eastbound and westbound traffic from 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24th and is scheduled to reopen by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25th weather permitting.

A marked detour will be provided. All U.S. Highway 36 traffic will detour via Kansas Highway 99 to Kansas Highway 9 to U.S. Highway 77 to access U.S. Highway 36.

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the full roadway closure. Drivers should expect minor delays during this overnight roadway closure and must use alternate routes.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
