Police Arrest Suspected Shooter Near Solomon Valley Raceway

An illegal shooting took place in Beloit on Sunday afternoon during the Monster Truck Show and Demolition Derby at Solomon Valley raceway according to the Beloit Police Department. Beloit Chief of Police Dave Elam tells KD Country 94 and Z-96.3 News that Thomas Motes, age 27, of Beloit discharged an illegally possessed firearm from the apartment complex he lives in on Campbell street and was shooting in the direction of the fairgrounds where the truck show and demo derby was taking place.

After a report was made to police about the shooting, Motes was arrested on charges of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Felony Possession of a Firearm and Reckless Endangerment. Chief Elam said that alcohol was a likely factor in the scenario. At last check, Motes was being held at the Mitchell County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
