Many representatives are playing from our area, including Pike Valley’s Dawson Carlgren and Jacob Field in the DII All-Star Game for the East squad.  Carlgren and Field were very instrumental in helping lead Pike Valley to playoff berths each of the last two seasons, including an 8-3 finish in 2015.  Both players held more prominent offensive roles early in their careers, but the last couple seasons were called upon to use their defensive skills to the team’s advantage.

This past season, Jacob Field played some snaps from the TE spot and caught 15 passes for 382 yards and 6 TD.  On defense from his LB spot, he registered 67 tackles and 11 TFL.  In his career, he totaled 188 tackles and 19 TFL.  Field was also one of the better kickers in the state, as he was selected 1st Team All-State Kicker by the Wichita Eagle and Topeka Capital Journal in his Junior season.  Field is honored to have the opportunity to play in this year’s 8-Man All-Star Game and is looking forward to making new friends.

Dawson Carlgren was also a force on defense this past season for Don Melby’s Pike Valley squad.  He notched 76 tackles and 8 TFL from his LB position.  For his career, he finished with 203 tackles and 20 TFL.  After playing FB his junior season and running for 644 yards and 9 TD, he was called upon to pave the way for the Panther RB’s from the offensive line this season.  Carlgren is also excited to play in this year’s game alongside his teammate Jacob Field.

Dawson Carlgren and Jacob Field of Pike Valley will join the rest of the 8-Man DII East All-Stars on Saturday afternoon as they battle the West in Beloit at Trojan Field.  Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m., with pregame coverage on KD Country 94 and the Kansas 8-Man All-Star Radio Network beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Fans out of the listening area can also catch the games online at www.8manallstars.com.
