Washington City Council Updates City Code; Talks Budget Options

Washington City Council recently considered budget options, with the City Auditor recommending a preliminary tax rate of 45.691 mills, down just slightly from the previous year. The city’s assessed valuation at 5.85 million dollars was up slightly.

Also at the meeting, an ordinance was passed updating city code with regard to unsafe and unfit structures. The city has identified several properties of concern, and a Public Hearing has been set by resolution for September 7th, at 7 p.m. to determine if the structures are fit for habitation, or are unsafe and dangerous.
