(CONCORDIA, KS) — Cloud County Community College commencement activities are scheduled for Friday, May 15. The event recognizes graduates from the Concordia and Geary County campuses and outreach locations.
The Nurses’ Pinning ceremony will be at 4 p.m., May 15 in Arley Bryant Gymnasium on the Concordia campus.
All graduates, family and friends are invited to a reception in the CCCC cafeteria on the Concordia campus from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., May 15.
Commencement exercises begin at 7 p.m., in Arley Bryant Gymnasium at the college’s Concordia campus.
The commencement speaker will be Dr. Rob Edleston, retired president and CEO of Manhattan Area Technical College.
Dr. Rob Edleston was born in Paris France to American missionaries. He grew up in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York where he graduated from Mahopac High School in 1975.
The following fall he joined the U.S. Air Force where he spent the next twenty years traveling the world, training, and working in various fields. Rob was stationed in Blytheville Arkansas, Portsmouth New Hampshire, Osan Korea, Homestead Florida, Albuquerque New Mexico, and Little Rock Arkansas.
He has been a Security Policeman, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician, Industrial Foreman, First-Line Supervisor and Manager, Training Director, Teacher, Counselor, Safety Officer, and Liquid Oxygen Production Foreman.
As a teacher, Rob instructed in a wide variety of areas to include Safety, Security, Hazardous Communications, Troubleshooting, Electrical , Refrigeration, and Heating. Rob has been everything from a military policeman to an embalmer’s apprentice.
He has taught in the Air Force, for the State of New Hampshire, Pulaski Technical College, and Southeast Arkansas College.
Dr. Edleston was the Associate Vice President of Workforce Development, Technical Education, and Adult Education at Southeast Arkansas College prior to accepting the position of President and CEO of Manhattan Area Technical College in November 2004.Having recently retired, he now holds the title of President Emeritus for life.
He holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Air Conditioning and Heating, a Bachelor’s degree in Vocational Education, a Master ‘s degree in Counseling, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration.
Rob’s wife Brenda is the Associate Vice President of Cloud County Community College’s Geary County Campus. They have one son, Robert II, and a daughter, Caitlan Scruggs, who is expecting their first grandchild.
