The 31st Annual Kansas 8-Man All-Star Football Games are taking place this Saturday at Trojan Field in Beloit. The first game features the Division I All-Stars at 10:00 a.m., while Game 2 will be between the Division II All-Stars at 1:30 p.m.
Two of our KD Country 94 and Z 96.3 area representatives are Grant Davis and Arrow Durant of Rock Hills High School. The two were instrumental parts in helping lead Rock Hills to a playoff berth and a 7-3 finish in 2015.
Grant Davis spent the past three seasons helping lead the way for the Rock Hills backs, including Joel Broeckelman, who was an 8-Man All-Star last season. As a Senior, he was a Topeka Capital-Journal 1st team All-State pick on the offensive line. He also caused problems on defense, as he registered 60 tackles, 6 TFL and 3 fumble recoveries in his final season. In his career, he notched 162 tackles, 14 TFL and 4 fumble recoveries. Davis is happy to have the opportunity to play another high school football game and to strap up the pads with his teammate Arrow Durant one last time.
Durant was a steady contributor for the Grizzlies as well. He finished with 313 receiving yards and 3 TD on offense and also registered 38 tackles, 6 TFL and 2 fumble recoveries on defense. Midway through the season, he dislocated his right elbow, and fought hard to get back on the field for the Grizzlies. In the end, he only missed one full game, but never truly got 100% healthy. He explained his reaction to the injury and is excited to have one more chance to play football.
Arrow Durant and Grant Davis of Rock Hills will join the rest of the 8-Man DI East All-Stars on Saturday morning as they battle the West in Beloit at Trojan Field. Kickoff is set for 10:00 a.m., with pregame coverage on KD Country 94 and the Kansas 8-Man All-Star Radio Network beginning at 9:30 a.m. Fans out of the listening area can also catch the games online at www.8manallstars.com.
