Marysville To Host Kansas “AA” American Legion State Tournament

Marysville will be host to the Kansas Class “AA” American Legion State Baseball Championship this week at the recently renovated Cleo Feldhausen Field.

Games get underway on Wednesday, July 26th with 8 teams competing. Marysville will be host to the late game, playing at approximately 8:00 p.m. That game, and all other Marysville games, will be broadcast live on AM 1570/FM 94.1 KNDY, and right here on our website.


Game 1: Hoisington (8-3) vs. Doniphan Co. (22-8) – Wed. 1:00 PM
Game 2: Iola (16-14) vs. Russell (22-7) – Wed. Appx. 3:15 PM
Game 3: Garnett (24-7) vs. Beloit (24-8) – Wed. Appx. 5:30 PM
Game 4: Hays (20-10) vs. Marysville (24-7) – Wed. Appx. 8:00 PM

Derek Nester was born and raised in Blue Rapids, and graduated from Valley Heights High School in May of 2000. He attended Cowley College in Arkansas City and Johnson County Community College in Overland Park studying Journalism & Media Communication. After stops at KFRM and KCLY radio in Clay Center, he joined KNDY in 2002 as a board operator and play by play announcer. Derek is now responsible for the digital content of Dierking Communications, Inc. six radio stations. In 2005 Derek joined the staff of KCFX radio in Kansas City as a production coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, which airs on over 90 radio stations across 12 Midwest states and growing.
