Jewell County Commissioners – November 13, 2017

The Jewell County Commissioners, Mark Fleming, Steve Greene and Keith Roe met on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. as the Board of County Canvassers, to canvass the ballots from the November 7, 2017 General Election. Carla J. Waugh, Jewell County Clerk/Election Officer was also present.

The ballots for the General Election were canvassed with 4 provisional ballots reviewed and 4 deemed valid and counted.

The canvassing was completed and the board adjourned at 9:20 a.m.

COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS

November 13, 2017

The Jewell County Commissioners met November 13, 2017 at 9:20 a.m. with Commissioners, Mark Fleming, Steve Greene and Keith Roe present. Carla J. Waugh, County Clerk, was present for the meeting.

Joel Elkins, General Superintendent, reported on operations. Commissioners reported road concerns.

Becky Blair and Mary Ann Meier of the Health Department discussed operations and grant deadlines.

Donald Jacobs, Sheriff, had the yearly maintenance agreement for the fingerprint scanners. The Commissioners asked that Don have the County Attorney review the agreement.

Shannon Meier, Ambulance Director, provided details and a new quote from Pierce Electronics on the repeater, dispatch radio, radios for ambulances and handheld radios. He said that Gail Bartley checked with the State     9-1-1 Committee and certain items can be paid with 9-1-1 Funds. Steve Greene moved to approve the purchase from Pierce Electronics for a total of $15,192.60. Keith Roe seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Chris Petet, Custodian, reported on the repairs to the boiler water line.

Darrell Miller, County Attorney, said he will review the Sheriff’s agreement.

Cindy Becker, Health Department discussed an immunization report due to the State.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m.

Now in his third year as News Director at KD-Country 94 and Z-96.3 The Lake, Chad is a jack of not all, but many trades. He spent previous years of his working life in hotel management, event planning, security, the aviation industry, staff writing for a newspaper, and as a small business owner. He began doing play-by-play of high school sports for KDNS and KZDY in 2009 and came to work full time for the stations in July of 2015.

He is a single-father of an eight year old daughter and enjoys spending his free time with her. His favorite activities include attending live music and sporting events as well as being a singer/songwriter. A natural conversationalist, he also enjoys a good discussion/debate on a myriad of topics from current events and politics to sports and philosophy. He resides in Beloit with his daughter and continues to write sports and meeting stories for the local newspaper.
