Broadcast coverage begins with the season tip off Thursday, Marysville at Axtell simulcast live on KNDY-FM 95.5 and KNDY-AM 1570/FM 94.1. Marysville will host Sabetha Friday, with coverage on KNDY-AM 1570/FM 94.1. Tune for scores on game nights during the Farm Bureau Insurance Scoreboard Show.

CENTRALIA PANTHERS

GIRLS:
Roger Holthaus returns for his 10th season leading the Lady Panthers. Last season CHS finished in 3rd Place at 1A D-I State with a 24-2 record, running the table in the Twin Valley League with a 12-0 record. The Lady Panthers lost by 1 point to Hanover in the state semifinals.

Centralia will return 4 starters, Katie Glatzek, Maegan Koch, Madison Lueger, and Morgan Kramer. Centralia also took home the State Volleyball Championship this fall.

BOYS:
Cole Alderfer leads the Centralia Panthers for his 4th season, after going 7-15 last season. Eight of the 15 losses were by single digits, half of those by 5 points or less. Centralia won the State Championship two years ago. The only returning starter is Trenton Flentie.

Centralia opens at Valley Falls Friday, at Wetmore Tuesday, and will host Axtell next Friday. They will face Doniphan West, Blue Valley-Randolph and Troy before the Christmas break.

AXTELL EAGLES

GIRLS:
Abby Stueve will coach her 3rd season at Axtell, after going 7-15 last season, a year removed from a 1A D-II state runner up the season before. The Lady Eagles replaced all 5 starters last season, but will return two this year, Trisha Matthewson and MaKenna Koch.

BOYS:
Jayson Tynon opens his 4th season at Axtell, coming off a 6-18 season, losing in the opening round of the State Tournament. Axtell will return 4 out of 5 starters, including Hunter Koch, Quinn Buessing, Derek Buessing, and Jonah Porter.

Axtell opens by hosting Marysville on Thursday, Wabaunsee on Friday and Hanover Tuesday. They will face Centralia, Troy and Riley County before the Christmas break.

LINN BULLDOGS

GIRLS:
Ron Smith will start his 5th season at Linn, coaching the Lady Bulldogs after a 13-10 season last year. Shelby Ohlde will be the sole returning starter, with lots of young talent moving up this year at Linn.

BOYS:
Jeremy Miller opens his 7th season at Linn after completing a 9-11 season a year ago. The Bulldogs will return 3 starters, Evan Bott, Dillon Cooper and Tanner Spence.

Linn will host Blue Valley-Randolph Friday, and Wetmore next Friday. They will face Frankfort, Valley Heights and Clifton-Clyde before the Christmas break.

HANOVER WILDCATS

GIRLS:
Chris Beikman enters his 3rd season with the Lady Wildcats, who are the reigning 1A Division I State Champions coming off a 24-2 season. They finished runner-up to Centralia in the Twin Valley League, going 11-1. Hanover defeated Centralia in the 1A D-I State Semifinals. HHS returns 3 starters, Macy Doebele, Tianna Lohse and Claire Zarybnicky.

BOYS:
Kim Lohse enters his 23rd season at Hanover, as they are also the 1A Division I State Champions, finishing 24-2 as well last year. They were runner-up to Troy in Twin Valley League play, going 11-1. The HHS football team completed their second undefeated season with a 8-Man, Division I State Championship.

Hanover will be at Axtell on Tuesday, and hosting Troy on Friday. They will face Blue Valley-Randolph, Diller-Odell and Washington County before the Christmas break.

FRANKFORT WILDCATS

GIRLS:
Brian Ebert enters his 3rd season, coming off a 15-9 performance. The Frankfort Lady Wildcats will return all 5 starters, Emilee Ebert, Jessa Yaussi, Becca Adams, Kaci Vaughn and Kennen Brandt. Last season FHS ended their season in sub-state to Centralia.

BOYS:
Nick Anderson begins his 5th season at the helm in Frankfort, returns two starters, Austin Hardwick and Mitchell Olson. The Wildcats finished 9-13 last season.

Frankfort will host Silver Lake Thursday, and will play at Pawnee City on Friday. They will face Washington County, Valley Heights, Linn, Rossville and Wabaunsee before the Christmas break.

VALLEY HEIGHTS MUSTANGS

GIRLS:
Jordan Broxterman enters his 3rd season at Valley Heights, after finishing 11-10 last season. The Lady Mustangs finished strong, winning 9 of their last 11 games. VHHS returns 4 starters, Kayla Smith, Deandra Woodyard, Kennedy Stevenson, and Samantha Vermetten.

BOYS:
Adam Schreiner, with 4 years at Valley Heights, enters 2017-2018 following a 13-9 season. Three starters return, including Bryan Yungeberg, Harrison Blaske and Jeremy Reed.

Valley Heights hosts Riley County on Friday, before traveling to Blue Valley-Randolph on Tuesday. They will face Frankfort, Republic County and Marysville before the Christmas break.

WASHINGTON COUNTY TIGERS

GIRLS:
Jay Hearn enters his 7th season at Washington County after finishing last season 18-5. The Lady Tigers finished the Twin Valley League in 3rd place, going 10-2. Their season ended with a sub-state finals loss to Wabaunsee who went on to win runner-up at state. WCHS returns 3 starters, Tess Cecerle, Holley Delay and Lauren Wyatt.

BOYS:
Robert Smith enters his 3rd season after finishing 13-10 last year. His Tigers return two starters, Carson Talkington and Riley Moore.

Washington County hosts Clifton-Clyde on Friday, and travels to Frankfort Tuesday. They’ll face Wakefield, Clifton-Clyde, Wetmore and Hanover before the Christmas break.

MARYSVILLE BULLDOGS

GIRLS:
Amy Renyer’s Lady Bulldogs finished last year 10-12, losing by 4 points or less in 4 games, and 12 or less in 7 games. Six players return with starting experience, Alex Denner, Tabi Wright, Sarah Roberts, Sydney Pacha, Sami Bartels and Nicole Franco.

BOYS:
Head Coach Scott Brown enters his 5th season at Marysville as the 3A State Champions. The Bulldogs went 22-4 last year, but lost two seniors. Returning for MHS is Gabe Pieschel, Jack Blumer, Brennan Wetter, Bryson Meinhardt and Nick Sparks. A short break for many players, as the Bulldogs finished runner-up at 3A State Football, with 4 days off before opening at Axtell Thursday.

Marysville travels to Axtell Thursday, before hosting Sabetha Friday. They’ll face Falls City, Clay Center, Concordia and Chapman before the Christmas break.
