Two candidates were considered for the Washington County Treasurer’s position, which is vacant following the resignation of Christy Metz last month.
The GOP Central Committee met last Thursday and voted former County Clerk Denae Jueneman of Hanover to fill the unexpired term. Pam Dobrovolny of Greenleaf, who currently works in the Treasurer’s Department, was the other candidate. Jueneman cited 20 years accounting and financial work experience, as well as familiarity with county budgeting and processes. Dobrovolny has worked in the office for a year, with 30 years leadership and management experience.
Because the vacancy occurred before May 1st, the position will be up for election this fall, and again in two years to get back on cycle. Committee delegates asked questions, and the vote was 17 for Jueneman, and 6 for Dobrovolny. The recommendation will be sent to the Governor, who has a week to approve the decision.
