The Dane G. Hansen Foundation has awarded scholarships to 219 high school seniors from 49 Northwest Kansas schools. The winners were chosen based on verbal and writing skills, academic records, test scores, and community service. The scholarships range from $4,000 to $10,000 and are renewable based on the students' GPA and progress toward educational goals.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has allocated over $5.3 million for seven clean energy projects in Kansas, aimed at reducing energy bills, increasing access to biofuels, and creating job opportunities.
